Perpetuating the lie

So, in my casual TV viewing I've begun to notice a very disturbing trend. No, this note will not be a rant on sex and violence on TV, that must be saved for another time, because what I have to say is much more important. Today's sitcoms have begun to portray young couples of outstandingly beautiful women paired with chubby and generally unatractive men. Many of you reading this are probably saying to yourself, "there's nothing disturbing about that, what the foo is Brady trying to say?"The point is, my friend, that these sitcoms are nothing more than dens of deception perpetuating lies and giving false hope to the genuinely ugly. I mean, let's face it, in real life the likes of Kevin James and Jim Belushi could never score beautiful women were it not for the fact that they are ridiculously rich, and yet somehow we are supposed to believe that their lower middle-class on-screen personas are able to. I don't believe that beer-guzzling, back-talking and sports-obsessing men are what beautiful women look for in a man, but these are common qualities in all of these men. There is, however, a possibility that I'm completely wrong in my assumptions. Maybe if ugly men everywhere would just develop drinking habits, study the art of sarcasm and pretend to actually enjoy watching baseball (something that I, even with all of my theater training, would never be able to do) they would be able to get genuinely lucky. Could it be that these shows are actually lighting the way for the beauty-impaired?...... No, no it couldn't, sorry.
